Description
Many kitchens hold smooth, serrated, ceramic and single-edge knives side by side, and each one asks for a different kind of sharpening. This 7-in-1 multi-use sharpener by 3 Claveles (ref. 09431) brings them all together in one tool: turn the selector to the mode you need and sharpen.
It combines diamond-coated rods, tungsten carbide blades and ceramic rods in a 24 cm body with an open handle, and adds a separate slot for scissors. Seven functions in total.
Seven functions in one sharpener
The selector has six positions for knives, plus the scissors slot, and each one works with its own material:
- Coarse: diamond-coated rods to prepare the blade and repair damaged straight edges.
- Medium: carbide blades to sharpen and restore the V-shaped cut.
- Fine: ceramic rods to remove burrs and polish.
- Serrated: ceramic rods for serrated-edge knives.
- Ceramic: diamond-coated rods for ceramic knives.
- Single-edge: carbide blades for single-edge knives.
- Scissors: a dedicated slot to sharpen scissors.
A simple order of work
With a badly worn smooth blade, the logical sequence is coarse to prepare, medium to sharpen and fine to polish. The marking on the selector itself is a reminder: sharpen in one direction only, without a back-and-forth motion.
How to use the sharpener
- Rest the sharpener on a flat surface and hold it with one hand; with the other, grip the knife by its handle.
- Turn the selector to the mode you want: coarse, medium, fine, serrated, ceramic or single-edge.
- Insert the whole blade into the slot, at 90° to the sharpener.
- Apply light downward pressure and slide the knife from heel to tip, never pushing it outwards.
- Repeat about 5 to 7 times; with very hard steel a few more passes may be needed.
- For scissors, place them in scissor position and slide the blade from the tip towards the handle, always in the same direction.

A practical option for anyone who prefers to keep all the sharpening in a single tool. To keep it in shape, a damp cloth or a soft brush is enough; tap water is best avoided.
