Description
The Zwilling TwinSharp black knife sharpener (ref. 32591-000) is the ideal companion for always having a sharpener within reach in the kitchen. It sharpens effortlessly in a few seconds, even very dull knives, whether it’s a chef’s knife or a paring knife.
Its sturdy, lightweight ABS handle is built to last. When you finish, wipe the blade clean and the knife is ready; even the softest tomatoes can be cut with ease. Designed in Germany.
Sharpening in a single step
The stainless steel and ceramic discs, with a preset angle of roughly 35°, give a fine edge in one step. It suits the vast majority of traditional straight-edge knives; if the blade is coated or painted, better not to run it through, as it would be damaged. Serrated blades, scissors and Asian knives with a single bevel are excluded; santoku knives sharpened on both sides are fine too, although the angle is set for Western knives.
Curved handle and safe distance
The curve of the handle fits the palm of your hand and keeps handle and sharpening blades apart, which adds an extra margin of safety while you work.
Small and easy to store
At 16.5 cm long and 4.5 cm high, it saves space and fits in the drawer. The ABS plastic is tough and easy to clean.
How to use the sharpener
It is very simple, but read the manufacturer’s instructions before using it for the first time. Here is how:
- Rest the sharpener on its rubber base on a flat, dry surface that won’t slip. The blade must be clean and dry before you begin.
- Grip the handle with one hand and press down lightly.
- Put the knife into the slot with the edge facing down and slide it gently, heel to tip, always towards you and never the other way. Take the blade out, put it back in and repeat a few times.
- Check the edge with a test cut on a piece of paper.
When you finish, turn the sharpener upside down so the dust falls out of the discs and wipe it with a dry cloth; do not wet it or wash it in the dishwasher.
