The Wüsthof thermo-treated beech magnetic knife bar, 40 cm long, is the most hard-wearing option in the Solingen firm’s wood range. Its material is not ordinary beech: it has undergone a heat treatment that cooks the wood at temperatures between 180 and 220 °C, transforming its internal structure. The result is a dark brown wood, elegant and far more durable than the natural version.
Why thermo-treated wood makes the difference
During the heat treatment, the beech loses its ability to absorb water. It becomes water-resistant and practically waterproof with no need for varnish or coatings. This brings clear advantages in the kitchen: the wood does not swell or shrink with humidity, it keeps its dimensions intact and develops resistance to wood-rotting fungi. It also dries faster and needs minimal maintenance. At first it may give off a slight smoky aroma, a reminder of the cooking process.
Wüsthof grip and easy mounting

The manufacturer recommends placing the knives with the tip pointing upwards for greater safety.
