KAI’s care and maintenance set for wooden handles and blades contains:
- 1x bottle of Japanese camellia oil for caring for wooden handles and also as corrosion protection for non-stainless knives.
- 1x KAI-logo microfibre cloth, 30×30 cm
Camellia oil is obtained from the seed of the camellia tree, native to East Asia; it is food-safe and paraffin-free. Centuries ago this oil was used to care for the famous Japanese swords.
Today it is used to care for the wooden handles of our Japanese knives and to apply to the blades of non-stainless knives, protecting the surface against corrosion. Regular use is recommended. Likewise, discoloured knife handles can benefit from camellia oil care.
Using the set
The KAI maintenance set is very easy to use:
- Clean the knife as usual before using it
- Dip the microfibre cloth in the camellia oil and rub it thinly over the blade

- Wash at 60ºC
- Use a gentle programme
- Do not bleach / do not iron
- Do not use fabric softener
